CLARKSTON, MI – The biggest crowd I’ve personally ever seen at DTE Energy Music Theatre witnessed what Bob Seger says is his last concert ever at the venue formerly known as Pine Knob.
The Detroit native performed his final DTE show after a string of six concerts in a row at the venue on June 21, 2019.
When we say jam-packed, we mean it. This was the view from the top of the lawn area about 10 minutes before Seger took the stage. There’s almost not a single blade of grass to be seen. And in the pavilion, I did not see one empty seat once the show started.
Seger took the stage just after 8:45 p.m. and performed 24 songs in 2 hours and 15 minutes, finishing 1 minute before 11:00 p.m.
His energy level was high, his voice strong and his frequent wide smile showed the crowd he was having a great time.
Seger played piano and guitar and performed some songs without instruments. He was backed by a huge band which included a horn section, three backup singers, keyboard, drums and three guitars.
Seger said throughout the concert that this was his last show at Pine Knob, and I believe him. There’s no telling if he’ll perform more concerts in Michigan, but he still sounds good and seems to have plenty of gas left in the tank. Here’s to hoping for a Comerica Park finale or maybe a Michigan Stadium show sendoff.
